Medal Presentation Ceremony 2009
Held on Saturday, October 31st 2009, the ICAS 2009 Medal Presentation Ceremony (2009 MPC) was the event all of ICAS participants had waited for. The special event took place in the Sanctuary Function Hall, Menara Kuningan, Jakarta, attended by about 650 invited guests coming from all over JABODETABEK, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, and many more.
The function hall was filled with proud parents who were eager to see their loved ones being presented with rewards for their exceptional accomplishments. The 2009 MPC was organized for all students who succeed in reaching the highest levels of academic excellence in the ICAS 2009. These students were presented with medals, Gold and/or Silver. To present the Gold medals, attending the event was Mr. Jeff Laurie, Group Executive of Educational Assessment Australia, University of New South Wales (EAA-UNSW).
In the 2009 MPC, 17 students were presented with Gold medals for English, 11 for Mathematics, and 10 for Science. As for the Silver medal winners, 1 student for English, for 112 students for Mathematics and 54 students for Science. In this event, David Pratama Widjaja from Year 4 Bina Bangsa School in Kebon Jeruk received 3 medals, one Gold Medal and two Silver Medals, in all three subjects. The school who received the most medals in ICAS 2009 is IPEKA International Christian School with 5 Gold Medals and 18 Silver Medals.
With the theme of “Books for a Better Future” for the 2009 MPC, UniSadhuGuna Testing Centre took into account the earthquake that happened in Sumatra Barat some time prior to the 2009 MPC, by encouraging all of ICAS participants to show care for those suffering from the unfortunate incident by donating books to schools in the affected area. There were in total 455 books collected during the MPC. To distribute the book donations to the party intended, UTC gave the books to Posko Jenggala, an organisation founded by Arifin Panigoro, which works for humanitarian causes.
Hopefully this event would escalate the student’s confident and boost their motivation to self-assess their own personal skills and knowledge that eventually will lead them through a never ending learning process. Congratulations to all medal winners!
